This is a minimally invasive procedure which aims to block abnormal veins in the leg. A chemical is injected into the veins to damage the lining of the vein being treated. This process causes the vein to block and eventually shrivel away. The procedure is done in an outpatient setting and does not require any anaesthetic (being an injection).
