So please could you explain for us what is cardiovascular disease? There are different forms of cardiovascular disease, the one that most people think about is coronary artery disease where you have narrowings in the heart arteries, so the heart is a pump that sits in the middle of the chest and pumps blood around the whole of the rest of the body to the lungs and around to the legs and everywhere else but the muscle itself needs its own blood supply so as well as pumping blood around the rest of the body through the aorta or the pulmonary artery, the heart muscle itself needs its own blood supply which is from the coronary arteries. We have three main coronary arteries and within those coronary arteries you can develop plaque build-up within the vessels and that's mainly the thing that people think about when you think of cardiovascular disease or coronary artery disease is that plaque build up within the heart arteries and that's usually down to cholesterol deposition on the surface of the blood vessels.
