Dr Kanaganayagam is a cardiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Chelsea and Westminster NHS trust, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Cardiology for Imperial.
He performs specialist comprehensive review of patients with chest pain, hypertension, palpitations/collapse, breathlessness, leg swelling, valve disease or heart failure.
His sub-specialist expertise is in multi-modality imaging with formal European and British accreditation. He performs and interprets calcium scoring plus CT coronary angiography, stress echocardiography, cardiac MRI or invasive angiography when warranted. He participates in specialist meetings to assess suitability for transcatheter procedures such as TAVI, PFO/ASD/LAA closures, in a clinical team.
Dr Kanaganayagam was educated at St Paul’s School in London and was awarded a national scholarship whilst a medical student. He then undertook an intercalated PhD in cardiology and was nominated as a young investigator of the year for his research in stem cell biology, whilst still a medical student. He trained as an academic registrar at Imperial College London, and has continued to participate in original research, write review articles and book chapters in cardiac CT, echocardiography and cardiac MRI.
