What are the benefits of arthroscopic versus open surgery?

What would be the benefits of an arthroscopy over open surgery? So the clear benefits are because we are using very small entry points, the pain is much less as compared to traditional open surgery because we're not having to split much muscle or cut much muscle during the procedure. I personally think that the advantage is also actually you see the anatomy in a much more detailed manner, rather than looking at the anatomical defect or the problem through a small dark hole which you're trying to put light through. You have abundance of light having gained entry into the joint and with the scope you're able to see things much more closer up and more magnified. So I think there's a lot more advantages in that respect. So the access is better, the pain control is certainly much better and we are now able to do much more surgery arthroscopically as opposed to what we were able to do even 10 years ago.
