investigations for ankle injuries

Dr. Hatem, what's the first line of investigation you do for an ankle injury? So the first line of investigation we do is x-ray of course, it's very simple and will give us a lot of information to start with about the bones mainly. What sort of things would you be looking for? So we look for of course there is an effusion so there is a lot of soft tissue swelling around the ankle which sometimes mean there is something going on like a fracture or it can be a ligament injury so a complete ligament like it's it's been torn completely and but that's what we need more investigation but the finding on the x-ray will guide us to do more investigations as well as to find fractures of course.
