Addressing Community Health Questions

What are the sorts of healthcare expert questions your patients or community members ask of you and your team? Do they vary from season to season? The type of questions that our patients and community members ask us are typically related to lifestyle and how to prevent themselves from getting in the hospital again or having to go to an emergency department or an urgent care center. They do vary from season to season. We're sitting right now in the midst of a very difficult flu season, RSV season, not so much COVID, but we're finding a lot of questions pertaining to the just respiratory illnesses that we're facing, not atypical for a winter season. In the summer, it tends to be more around cuts, bruises, accidents, things of asthma, things that might be seasonal in nature due to what's growing in the community. But the other thing, quite honestly, is violence. One of the public health issues that we continue to face is violence in some of the communities that we serve, which quite honestly is a stumbling block for a lot of people who are wanting to receive care but are reluctant to move out of a safe zone.
