When were you diagnosed with diabetes and what type were you diagnosed with?

I was diagnosed well over 40 years now and I was diagnosed as a type 2. It was in later on in life. I wonder if indeed I was started to, but I went on to insulin very early. So I take insulin still now. And it was rather different to how it is today because, for instance, when you're diagnosed today you're set up with specific things where you have your eyes tested, your feet tested and all those things. And in those days it did happen, but not in the way that it does today. And information was very sparse. I was lucky because I was working in a hospital, so I was able to look up my stuff. And my paternal grandmother also had diabetes, so it was not something new to me at any rate.
