How long does the implanted valve last for?

How long does the valve last once it's implanted? So the valve technology itself is relatively new. Mainstream TAVI has been performed for about nine or ten years now. The data that we have looking at lots of studies looking at durability of valves suggests that TAVI valves are very durable and at approximately nine years the degeneration rate is less than 5%. As a comparison, surgical aortic valves that have been around a lot longer seem to have a life expectancy or lifespan of around 10 to 15 years and so one would expect that TAVI valves would probably be roughly the same, so about 10 years or so.
