How has it affected you afterwards? Afterwards I think the main effect was simply all that went on following a major operation and you know any major abdominal operation you know I felt totally and utterly exhausted and I have been warned about lifting things and so on and so I had to be careful about what I could do and I was looking at the garden and the you know the sun and rain it was both making the thing grow like mad and I was just watching it grow and couldn't do anything about it. Not that I'm a passionate gardener but I was spending a lot of time looking at it and I was also very very cautious about riding my bike. I'm I'm equally a very passionate cyclist and I've been sort of discouraged from doing too much of that straight away. So, you know, it was that sort of thing and the things I could do at home from having been, well, my wife's carer, but that is a bit overstating it. I mean, my wife has mobility problems And so I would care for in that respect. But I now found myself being cared for by her and it was a role reversal. And I was having to sort of learn to accept this. And we're back to the other way around now pretty much, which is fine. But it was that sort of adjustment in lifestyle. and now I'm doing the things that I will be doing, I'm back on my bike, I've done a bit of gardening, nothing too strenuous because I'm not a strenuous gardener anyway, but so that was, yeah, that was the main effects on me, it really was initially the total and utter exhaustion, it really was, you know, you go through a day and you Basically, if you want to do anything, I had to do it in the morning, because after the morning, you know, the rest of the day was falling asleep in the chair. And, and in the evening I had things I wanted to do. I'm also a fairly passionate philatelist, stamp collector, and so I got loads I could do sitting around, but I simply didn't even have the energy to do that in the evening, and that's that's something. Yeah, but it was learning to become dependent on other people, my wife, and also the people from our church in particular, who came around so often, they would come and initially they were coming down every day making sure that we had meals organized you know in whatever way and and including doing the washing up which was wonderful because you know it was those little things but just learning to be dependent for a while And that was the hardest thing and the biggest adjustment but I've got through it.
