So from my experience I've seen people being admitted to hospital needing oxygen or non-invasive ventilation who make a full recovery and they have no problems. I've also seen people coming out of intensive care after prolonged ventilation with evidence of scarring on the lungs and kidney dysfunction and reduced mobility because of the prolonged stay on ITU. And some people have actually had to learn how to walk again because they've had significant muscle wasting and weakness as well. My experience from the patients I've seen in clinical follow-ups is that they do get better but it is a slow process and with physiotherapy and psychological as well as physical support they do improve. Personally I know of colleagues who had COVID where they've been very unwell for a week or two but they still continue to have symptoms of significant fatigue and breathlessness on exertion. Brain fog is something else that occurs with a lack of ability to concentrate fully.
