Are there non-surgical options to treat aortic valve disease?

Are there any non-surgical treatment options for aortic valve disease? Unfortunately there are no non-surgical treatment options. When you say non-surgical in the strict sense then yes there is no non-surgical treatment but there is an alternative called TAVI or transcatheter aortic valve implantation which is not surgical, it's performed in a catheter lab by a cardiologist with assistance from a cardiac surgeon and essentially in this you do not cut open the chest of the patient and put them on a heart-lung machine to do the procedure. This procedure is done through an artery in the groin commonly or there's usually an artery used either around the shoulder or in the neck and the valve is basically implanted inside your old valve without taking it out. When we do the surgical procedure, we take out the old valve, we cut it out, and then we stitch a new valve in. In this procedure called the transcatheter aortic valve implantation or TAVI, we do not cut the old valve out. The old valve remains where it is and you put a new valve inside the old valve and stretch the old valve to accommodate the new valve. And this is the commonly called keyhole procedure whereby you go through a small nick in the groin into one of the main arteries, you thread a wire in, the wire goes all the way up, crosses the native aortic valve, and then the new valve is threaded over this wire. It goes to the the place where it has to land and then we release this valve inside the oil valve and that's how we do a non-surgical aortic valve replacement.
