Are obesity and its related conditions, for example, diabetes, hypertension and chronic venous insufficiency, genetic? Okay, that's a great question. And the answer is predominantly yes. So we know that genetics control about 70% of someone's weight, and the rest 30% or so is controlled by the environment. And it is exactly the same with height. Our height is controlled by approximately 70 to 80% by genes and the rest is things like exercise and the environment and calcium and bone strength. It's exactly the same with obesity and this is very important to remember and understand and why some people find it a lot more difficult to lose weight compared to others. And that is purely due to luck.
