Are different forms of bariatric surgery more or less effective? Yes, so generally what we see is that the sleeve gastrectomy, patients that have undergone the sleeve gastrectomy are more likely not to lose enough weight or to regain the weight that they have lost. The problem is that we cannot predict before the operation who is going to do well and who's going to do badly. So therefore my suggestion, my personal recommendation to everyone, is that they should be asking for what is by far the best operation which is the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, unless of course there is a reason or contraindication to that.
