What questions are frequently asked in consultations?

the questions I get asked most commonly are is this leg salvageable and is it worth salvaging or is it worth having a primary amputation and sometimes that can be tricky so that's the kind of area we're really investing a lot of research in so a really great example from our point of view would be trying to restore blood flow at multiple levels to see if a foot has enough to heal an ulcer. It's not the only factor in the foot ulcer healing, as you can see, but it's a factor I'm involved with. And so for us, the research we're doing is actually looking at the flow in the artery before and after we do our interventions to see if the flow rate that we have achieved is enough to keep the leg on. Sometimes we find that we can open up all the large arteries, but the tiny, tiny vessels in the foot are just completely blocked. And it doesn't matter how much blood you fire at them that foot is not going to survive and so what we need is a good indicator of that and that's the kind of research we're doing in our place.
