Endovenous ablation and foam sclerotherapy of varicose veins

Okay, would you mind telling me about your experience in your own words? The experience that I've just had, I've had a combination of ablation and foam sclerotherapy. There were painful moments when the pricks were being made, but other than that, I didn't experience any pain. The pain of the pricks was quite severe when it happened, it was literally eye-watering. I was walking when the incisions were made, but it was bearable and I was quite happy to put up with it to get the final result which is, I hope, going to be that I shall be fit and active again as far as walking is concerned. And if I'm correct, have you had something like this done before? Yes, I had. I'm not sure of when the veins were first done, but it was ablation. but it was a different procedure from the one that I've just had. It was, I suppose, what was the state of the art at that time. That lasted and was successful for a number of years, but the veins had begun to give me trouble again during the last couple of years, which is why I've had this further treatment. I've just had the right leg attended to today and I shall be having the left leg at some future date to be arranged. So your previous treatment, that didn't work or did something go wrong during that? You're talking about when I had the earlier treatment? Yes, not the treatment you had today. It worked, but unfortunately it doesn't last forever. I can't even remember quite when it was done, but it may have been as long ago as the late 1990s. So, it was successful for quite a while, but then, as I say, the veins began to give trouble again. Did anything unexpected happen today? I'm sorry? anything unexpected happen today? Today? No. I mean I've been very happy with the treatment I've had today. It was Mr. Jaffer himself who was doing the operation, and there were two other surgeons who were in attendance, and the nursing staff have been excellent. I'm really very impressed, and it's a matter now of keeping fingers crossed that the treatment would have been successful because I've been informed that there's not a 100% guarantee. So it's just waiting and I'm hoping for the best. Is there anything you'd like to recommend to someone who's going through the same thing issue? Well only that the pricking pain is quite severe, but just to bear in mind that it's all in a very good cause and you just have to sort of grit your teeth and put up with it.
