When untreated, can peripheral arterial disease be fatal?

So, I mean, peripheral tear disease can be very severe and especially when we're talking about critical limb ischemia, no one will die because of claudication, but you know, ulcers at the level of the feet can be pretty nasty, especially when the amount of tissue loss caused also by the infection reaches the bone. the worst thing which can happen with a wet gangrene means that the old tissue is liquefying and this means that the bone can be affected and amputation many times is needed and if you don't have enough blood supply towards the foot then also the amputation will never heal so it will cause even more and more amputation till reaching the level sometimes of below the knee.
