What is a stress fracture of the foot?

Hello Mr Mishra, can you please tell us what a stress fracture of the foot is? So a stress fracture of the foot you'll come across usually in an athletic person who's been doing some running or they've gone for a long walk and originally they used to be called march fractures because the soldiers would go on a long walk or a march and it will result in a fracture. It's essentially a repetitive strain injury to the bone so repetitive strain results in a very fine fracture which is symptomatic, is painful, causes some swelling but isn't always diagnosed on a simple x-ray and sometimes we need further imaging such as an MRI scan to confirm the diagnosis but essentially it's a fracture like any other fracture but it usually occurs from repetitive strain or stress on a bone.
