What is a stent? (Model demonstration)

So, what is an aortic stent that we use to treat aortic section? So, here's a stent graft or stent. This as you can see, this is a wire, what looks like a wire, kind of shaped in a zigzag fashion and inside of that there is the fabric that's usually made either of polyester that that we use in jackets or made of plastic, essentially, that goes inside of these peaks and valleys, if you will, if you can see them. And this whole thing is mounted inside of a delivery system that goes from the groin. And once we put it in the desired place under x-ray vision that we're looking at live, we can then open this stent inside the body and this fabric will act to prevent the blood from going into the tear site. And the rest of the Stengraft will act in a way to heal this aorta over time.
