What HbA1c targets should we aim for?

Richard talks about his experience of HbA1c testing. He says he has this checked up regularly every few months. He describes it as his own best indicator as to how well he is doing with his Diabetes control over time.

Sister Parminder Rihal, Diabetes Specialist Nurse explains that HbA1c can be used as a test to diagnose Diabetes. But, importantly she explains that is a person is Anaemic (has low Haemoglobin level in the blood) then the HbA1C test can mistakenly not pick up that a person is actually Diabetic. In that case she would recommend a different test to use.
