What follow up care will I need for venous malformations?

Well, once a treatment option is initiated, if it's surgical management, then patients get the necessary investigations to make the decision about performing surgery, and then they're followed up post-surgery. The length of time post-surgery that they're followed up is largely dependent on whether they have an open procedure that involves excising the venous malformation. So they get followed up anywhere from six weeks to three months after the procedure to see how they're doing overall. And if there is, for example, a less invasive therapy such as injection of foam sclerotherapy, they may be followed up again after three months to see if it's shrunken in size or whether they need some further treatment in order to reduce the malformation even more. And most importantly to see how the patient is doing and whether the symptoms have improved.
