What are the long-term outcomes of aneurysm repair?

Mr Usman Jaffer explains that the long-term outcomes for aneurysm repair can depend on what type of operation you have. The risk of a major complication or dying immediately after the operation is usually lower in endovascular (keyhole) repair compared to open repair. But, over a few years (10+ years), there is likely a better survival benefit in having an open repair, probably because it is more durable. When deciding between which operation to have, it is important to be aware of these factors and discuss them carefully with the doctor looking after you.
