What are the causes of cataracts?

So generally any disturbance inside of the eye will cause the cataract for the reason that the lens takes its nutrients from the perfect balance between the aqueous, which is the fluid in front of the lens, and the vitreous, which is the fluid at the back of the lens. So here and there there's a circulation of fluid and the nutrients are absorbed into the lens by a very fine and delicate balance. If the content of these chambers is disturbed for any reason, like disease, like surgery, like trauma, if these contents gets disturbed, the lens will start to lose its clarity and get the cataract. So in In more complex terms, if biochemical reactions do change inside of the eye, this will lead to a cataract. Most common cause is actually aging, and that is something that is called involutional or senile cataract, and that's something that will be treated by surgery. These are the common causes that will bring cataracts early on in our lifetimes poorly controlled diabetes would bring in a cataract early, obviously trauma like a strong hit, strong fall, all of these things may bring cataract early and the cataract in those sorts of types are quite tricky, they are not very straightforward cataracts to deal with. Smoking will expedite cataract cataractogenesis, so smokers theoretically would get cataracts at an earlier point of their lifetimes than non-smokers, and solar exposure. So it's a very good idea and a very good practice to use sunglasses and hats or sunblock on devices for anyone who is having exposure to sunlight during daytime or during holidays.
