Superficial Vein Thrombosis vs Superficial Thrombophlebitis

Is there a difference between superficial vein thrombosis and superficial thrombophobitis? In summary, no. The term superficial vein thrombosis is replacing the previous term thrombophobitis. So they're exactly the same condition but the term superficial thrombophobitis is being phased out and that's mainly because the term thrombophobitis hints at an infected process when it largely isn't. The vast majority of superficial vein thrombosis is a non-infected clot in the superficial venous system. So hence to avoid confusion the term's been changed.
