Serious issues I've had with my Diabetes.

John, who lives with Diabetes talks about his issues with very high and low blood sugar levels as well as his experience of Diabetic Ketoacidosis. He tells how he actually had to spend some time in the Intensive Care Unit of hospital with this condition.

What is Diabetic Ketoacidosis?

Sister Parminder Rihal, Diabetes Specialist Nurse explains what Diabetic Ketoacidosis is. She explains it is not very common but can happen in people with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes. She describes situations where people might develop this when they're unwell. The condition can make you feel very sick and cause belly pain, cramps in legs and belly.

Gestational diabetes: Why it is important to test for and treat?

Dr Mushtaqur Rahman, Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist explains the main reasons to pick up and treat Gestational Diabetes. Important reasons are to protect the baby from too high glucose levels while in the mothers belly. If the mothers glucose is consistently high then the baby when born will used to high glucose level - which can result in issues after delivery.
