Other treatment options for Venous Leg Ulcers

If you have a venous leg ulcer and you have incompetent varicose veins or you have an occlusion to your deep veins, then the recommendations are that you should have an intervention. The treatment for varicose veins, as for any patient with a varicose vein, may involve ablating the vein with either radiofrequency or laser and the role use of foam sclerotherapy around the leg ulcer base. If there is a disease in the iliac veins that shows an occlusion, then these patients may benefit from having that vein opened up and an iliac stent inserted to improve the venous drainage of blood from the leg which will reduce the venous hypertension and induce the chance of further leg ulceration. Furthermore, it will also promote the healing of that leg ulcer.
