Well, my father had it and died relatively young due to complications partly caused by his diabetes. So I was pretty well aware of the sort of the consequences of having diabetes. Initially I was put on to metformin and that I carried on with the metformin tablets for for probably 10 years, but my blood sugar levels were becoming increasingly erratic. And the consultant endocrinologist that I was seeing at the time suggested I go on to insulin, which I did in early 2000s. you
