Keeping up our guard during the Covid-19 pandemic

things right now is that we don't drop our guard. We have seen people like anaesthetists and intensivists who've been taking appropriate precautions when involved with aerosol generating procedures and treating the sickest patients in the hospital have had a very low incidence of getting COVID and having the severe complications of COVID. But that's because they've been taking precautions and they've really really paid attention to infection control and prevention and what that says to me is that you have to keep on maintaining those very high standards of infection control prevention, wearing a PPE in order to protect yourself, to protect your family and protect the patients that you care for. It's tempting after so many months to drop your guard slightly or to think something may or may not be an aerosol generating procedure but I want to say to everybody out there that when Public Health England, NHS England, NHS Improvement say wear this PPE and take these precautions, please, however much you may feel that you're not going to be the one who's catching it, you're not going to be the one who's suffering complications, whether you believe that having had it before makes you immune from getting it again, take the precautions you're meant to take.
