I've been screened for Atrial Fibrillation. What follow-ups will I need

If you've been screened for atrial fibrillation and you've been found to have atrial fibrillation, then you will need additional testing to assess what other issues there are surrounding the heart. So for example, you will need an echocardiogram to ensure that the heart is structurally normal. is an ultrasound scan of the heart. It is painless and involves placing some jelly on the chest and looking with ultrasound waves at the heart function and in particular also the heart valves. Once you've had the diagnostic tests of which the echocardiogram is the most common but other types of tests may be required then you will proceed to treatment which will be an assessment of the risk that you have for a stroke and also it may be that there are some symptoms such as tiredness or fatigue particularly if the heart rate is a little bit fast and you may not have been aware of it as this is a subtle symptom. So you may be offered treatments to help control the atrial fibrillation.
