How should I clean myself prior to surgery?

The recommendations that are part of many guidelines would suggest that if the patient is clean that their chance of developing a wound infection is minimized. So in my own personal experience I would certainly recommend that people undoubtedly shower or bathe with soap and water, but there is also some evidence to suggest that they would be better off doing this with a medically approved agent such as chlorhexidine and this will reduce their potential chance of developing a wound infection.
