The aims of treatment are to prevent the blood clot spreading up the vein and getting larger. This may prevent a large embolus from breaking off and travelling to the lungs. We're also aiming to try and reduce the risk of post-robotic syndrome from developing and also to reduce the risk of venous ulcers developing in the future. This can happen to people who have developed post-thrombotic syndrome. We also want to reduce the risk of a further DVT developing in the future as well.
