How do Orlistat pills work?

How do Olistat pills work? Olistat is a drug that basically inhibits an enzyme in the intestine called lipase and the function of lipase is to basically break down ingested fat into smaller molecules which can then get absorbed through the intestinal surface. Now what Olistat does, it basically stops this enzyme from functioning and that stops the fat from being absorbed. So basically this drug causes fat malabsorption. So if anybody eats anything fatty, the fat will not get absorbed and it basically comes out in a bowel movement. But interestingly, it's not actually the reduced absorption of fat that leads to weight loss with Orlistat, but actually it's the behavioral change that Orlistat triggers. Because clearly if you're not absorbing fat and it's coming out in your bowels, the actual stools will be fairly unpleasant, very often smelly, offensive diarrhea, and quite leaky with bad-smelling gas. So in fact, it is those side effects of the drug that actually stops people from eating fatty meals, which in turn can lead to mild weight loss. At best, with oily stat weight loss, we see is about two to three kilograms at best.
