How Diabetes can affect your eyes with Diabetes ?

Dr Mushtaqur Rahman, Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist talk about how Diabetes can affect small blood vessels to the back of the eye (the Retina). Diabetes can affect the leakiness of these arteries. If the Macula area of the Retina is affected, this will affect your ability to see. This can be seen as swelling in the Macula area when checked. Damage to the macular area can also result in new blood vessels growing in this region. Occasionally these new blood vessels can cause bleeding which can cause sudden vision loss.
