How are antibiotics given to patients with Cellulitis?

If you present with cellulitis, you need to see a healthcare professional, i.e. a doctor, who can assess you and decide whether you require antibiotics. If you require antibiotics and you are at your GP's this will be administered by giving you a prescription for oral medication. If however your GP or you are in A&E and it is deemed that you require a hospital admission it is likely that you will have your antibiotics given to you via a drip in your arm and this is likely to be for anything from 72 to 5 to 10 days. However, it is important to note that if you are improving and you still think that you need IV antibiotics, this can be administered in the community using something called a PICC line.
