Her medical background includes diabetes mellitus, fatty liver disease, sleep apnea, renal stones and migraines. She did not maintain weight loss achieved with diets and tablets. She was offered a laparoscopic (keyhole)gastric bypass. Before the procedure underwent a mandatory psychiatric assessment. She recovered well from the surgery.
