Does diabetes cause Heart Failure?

People with diabetes are certainly at an increased risk of developing heart failure. And there are different mechanisms in which this can happen. Most are directly as a result of what happens when you have diabetes, such as an increased risk of developing a heart attack or sometimes when you have diabetes and high sugar levels that aren't controlled well it increases the likelihood of a stiff heart which is a specific subtype of heart failure. When you have a stiff heart you can get symptoms of heart failure with leg swelling and fluid in the lungs as well.
