Can you diagnose diabetes on an HbA1c blood test?

Sister Parminder Rihal, Diabetes Specialist Nurse explains that HbA1c can be used as a test to diagnose Diabetes. But, importantly she explains that is a person is Anaemic (has low Haemoglobin level in the blood) then the HbA1C test can mistakenly not pick up that a person is actually Diabetic. In that case she would recommend a different test to use.

He tells a story from school where the schools arrangements for him to get his lunch first in the school hall led to painful comments from his class fellows.
