Can diabetic foot issues be cured or reversed?

Diabetic foot can be imminently treated, the onus is on prompt recognition, prompt referral to a specialist unit, not just anywhere, but to a specialist diabetic foot unit and then prompt management within these units. Most of our units here in the United Kingdom have a set of very good algorithms and they are connected to a network of higher centres if additional opinion is required. Delay in access is a major challenge for us as doctors. Many of our patients present late. So it's important for our patients to present early to their doctors and then it's our responsibility to ensure once people present to us we trigger a cascade of interventions that allows for early control of the problem, be it infection, be it circulatory problems or sometimes both.
