Can bunions cause actual medical problems?

Hi Mr. Mushtaq, a lot of people have bunions or deformation of the toes. What actual medical problem can these pose to people? Bunion problems are not just related to the actual deformity but actually the big toe is meant to carry 75% of the body weight and the other 25% is carried up by the smaller toes. If the big toe is not functioning then the smaller toes will take more weight and the patients will get pain transferred to the lesser toes which we call transfer metatarsalgia and they can present with pain under the lesser toes rather than the actual bunion deformity itself.
