aortic valve replacement

Harold is day 3 after tissue aortic valve replacement (AVR). This patient had a narrowing aortic valve (aortic stenosis) which was causing the heart to fail. He had this replaced with an artificial valve made from animal tissue. The incision was through the middle of the breast bone (median sternotomy).
