Of the many presentations across the clinical spectrum of chronic venous disease, venous leg ulceration can be considered amongst the most important hence, education to non-health care professionals on the importance of vein awareness is paramount. Expansion of public health promotion now includes raising awareness of preventative management of all aspects of lower limb related problems to the general public. The psychosocial Lindsay Leg Club® model of care has been in operation since 1995 and specifically designed to provide a social, non-medical model of care for people suffering from or at risk of leg- related issues and ulceration. This social approach is far more than simply the provision of lower limb care (although this is paramount) but rather a social model that seeks to address the myriad of issues individuals face using a social and effective methodology thus bringing creative ideas to life. The mission of the Leg Club is to foster a stronger voice with which to influence national policies, stimulate interest and further the knowledge and understanding of what it is like living with lower limb problems.
