What happens when you go to hospital for a stroke?

Dr. Alishek, if you do go to hospital suspected of having a stroke, what sort of treatment, what sort of investigations would you would you expect to have? So, first of all, to make a diagnosis you need immediate imaging, brain imaging, which may be a CT scan to begin with. The CT scan helps differentiate whether it's a bleed or a ischemic stroke. It may show nothing, it may appear as normal, means there's no bleed. You may need further investigation looking at your MRI doing having an MRI scan or need a vascular imaging. The vascular imaging includes the ultrasound of your neck vessels or a CT angiogram where a dye is injected through the canola in your veins and looking into the blood flow into the vessels. In addition an ECG at the baseline is very important for any abnormal rhythms particularly atrial fibrillation. There are multiple blood tests we start doing a routine investigation including your ESR, your full blood count, your kidney functions, liver profile, clotting profile and then followed by real investigations particularly in the young strokes which are below the age of 50.
