Cornary Angiography (Ms AK)

CT, a 64 year old male, presented with atypical chest pain. He had a medical background of type 2 diabetes mellitus and high cholesterol. His previous echocardiogram a few years ago showed good biventricular systolic function (good pumping action of the parts of the heart that pump blood to the rest of the body). A more recent ECG (electrocardiogram) showed left ventricular hypertrophy (thickening). He was offered a diagnostic coronary angiogram with the access point being through the right radial artery (in the wrist) using a 6F Impulse catheter. The test revealed mild disease within the left anterior descending artery.

AS, a 71 year old woman, came in with recurrent chest pain and shortness of breath. Her risk factors included high cholesterol, high blood pressure and family history of coronary artery disease. She was offered coronary angiogram which was accessed through the right radial artery (in the wrist) with a 5F TIG diagnostic catheter. The test showed no abnormalities.

SG, a female aged 70, came in with exertional chest pain. She has a background of high cholesterol and high blood pressure. She was offered coronary angiogram through the right radial artery (in the wrist) with the use of a TIG 5F Diagnostic Catheter. The test revealed disease of the left main stem coronary artery and its branches, as well as an occluded right coronary artery. Following this, she was scheduled for a coronary artery bypass graft (CABG).

FP, a male aged 83, presented with exertional stable angina. He has had a previous coronary artery bypass graft. His echocardiogram from a few months ago showed good overall biventricular systolic function with mildly dilated left atrium in size, alongside mitral regurgitation. Subsequently he underwent coronary angiography through the right radial artery (in the wrist) with a 6F Impulse FL3.5 catheter. The test showed all territories of the myocardium (heart muscle) were well vascularised (have adequate blood supply).

AT, a 55 year old female, underwent elective diagnostic coronary angiogram as a work up for renal transplantation. Her risk factors included obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure. She underwent a coronary angiogram with access through her right femoral artery with a 6F Impulse catheter. The test showed unobstructed (clean and opened) coronary arteries.

MN, a male aged 46, had been suffering from left-sided chest pain which may not be related to exertion. He has a very strong family history of coronary artery disease. He also has a background of high cholesterol, obesity, diet controlled diabetes and he is an ex-smoker. Echocardiogram was performed which showed good left ventricular function. Before the coronary angiogram, he had a CT cardiac angiogram which showed occlusion of the first diagonal from the left anterior descending artery. From this, he was arranged a coronary angiogram through the right radial artery (in the wrist). The left anterior descending artery was catheterised with the Medtronic 6F EBU3.5 Launcher and a Verrata pressure wire was used to measure pressures across the lesions. When the distal diagonal branch was crossed with the Whisper MS wire, the stenosis was predilated with Euphora 2.0mm x 12mm and a drug eluting stent Xience PRO 2.25mm x 15mm was deployed. The interventional treatment was successful.
