I didn't like Tomsk. I’m not a fan of wooden architecture, the weather didn’t allow a walk along the embankment, the Kruger restaurant left me bewildered, irritated, and hungover (and I don’t even get hangovers, by the way!). A year later, I even thought that back in August 2010, we made the right choice by turning left (toward Omsk).
I didn’t like Yekaterinburg. Maybe because it was colder there than in Novosibirsk. Maybe because my sister really loves walking. Unlike me.
I don’t like St. Petersburg.
I can’t say exactly how many times I’ve tried, but it never worked out. And every year, listening to people talk about the beauty and atmosphere of this city, I remember the number of songs written about it, the number of films based on the huge number of books written. And every year I think, "Maybe I should go again. Maybe I misunderstood everything last time?" Did it happen? Yes, it did. Was it a long time ago? Yes, it was a very long time ago. In a past life, 19 years ago.
