So, there are many different types of abnormal heart rhythms. One of them is atrial fibrillation, a completely irregular heart rhythm, and another one is atrial flutter. An atrial flutter is a slightly more organised abnormal heart rhythm where the top chamber of the heart, the atria, the collecting chamber, not the big pumping chamber at the bottom of the ventricle, now has a circuit going very fast causing it to beat very rapidly and that's sending the signals to the rest of the heart. So atrial fibrillation is completely erratic signals, atrial flutter is more organised with a fast circuit sending signals to the heart. The management and the symptoms are very similar. So the management is to make sure we can control the heart rate or get the heart back to normal rhythm and reduce the stroke risk by looking at blood thinners. And the management for both these conditions are very similar.
