What happens during a laparoscopic band procedure?

So, in a gastric band surgery, the patient will be anesthetized and the surgeon will use keyhole technique, so this means making four or five one centimeter or smaller incisions. Gas will be used to create space in the abdomen. The abdomen will be insufflated, and this will create working space for the surgical team. The surgeon will insert the gastric band into the abdominal cavity and then secure this around the top part of the stomach. The other end of the band is a tube which will be connected to a disc or port which is then placed in a little pocket under the skin. And that's the end of the surgery. It takes usually around 30 minutes to do this. can even go home the same day.
