And certainly from a patient perspective, smaller incisions mean less pain and earlier return to normal function. Also from a surgical aspect, if you have a large cut, you're much more likely to have wound problems, especially if you're obese, for example, wound infection or developing hernias. Those risks are much, much lower when it comes to laparoscopic surgery. And also from the surgeon's perspective, doing these operations with laparoscopic surgery it's actually technically easier and less tiresome for a surgeon than having to do them with the open operation.
