Team involved in diabetic foot care

Who would be expected to be part of the team managing and caring for the diabetic foot? My opinion about the diabetic foot is that the podiatrist needs to be in the centre, that person should own the foot, that person should manage the MDT as it were so that the patient, because they tend to present in our community podiatry clinics first before they go anywhere else. So the podiatrist if properly qualified can manage this. Within that MDT I would expect to have an orthopedic surgeon, an orthotist, I would expect to have a radiologist, a microbiologist, an endocrinologist, an infectious disease doctor, a vascular surgeon and I think that's about it. And the diabetic nurses obviously in the community, we look after these patients and manage their, and a wound care specialist. So the TVNs, the tissue viability nurses are very important and so are the district because they seem to be interlaced with one another. So it's a big group of people that need to look after these patients that's why it's so expensive.
