Out of the eight behaviours, I suppose the most relevant behaviour to me is owning my own health because I strongly believe that unless I take care of my health, I can't expect others to do the same for me. By others I mean people such as the healthcare professionals and my own family for that matter. So it's important that I understand my body, I understand my condition of type 2 diabetes and I understand the constraints that I may have to work with at times. So the most important thing I take into my heart is really owning my own health. And of course, if I feel that I need other help in order to stay healthy, in order to keep my blood glucose levels under control, then I do so. I seek help from the healthcare professionals as and when necessary. But I strongly believe that if I didn't take care of my own health first, I wouldn't really expect others to be able to do much for me.
