Are there any lifestyle changes that can help wound healing? So if someone has an ulcer, the biggest lifestyle change that can help is looking at how much time someone spends standing or walking. It depends on the location of the ulcer, but if someone has an ulcer on the sole of the foot, there is some evidence just recently that trying to reduce how much time someone spends on their feet and how many steps are taken, how much walking is done in a day can help to speed up ulcer healing. So in a study done recently, it was shown that taking less than 3,000 steps a day was associated with, it was an enhanced ulcer healing for an ulcer on the sole of the foot. So for the short term, if you have an ulcer on the sole of your foot, walking and standing less helps. For other ulcers, it's trying to avoid pressure on the ulcer, particularly if it's painless, by looking at appropriate footwear that is used. And the expert multidisciplinary team can advise on this usually.
